12 Perfect Strangers: Week 1 Day 1

You may have noticed that under each mini-profile we have "job sacrificed" - what does that mean? Well if the Strangersims had a job previous to contracting to be a part of 12 Perfect Strangers, they had to quit their job. Not only that, but as the title of the show says, they have to be perfect strangers. After some research, it has come to the attention of the staff that a couple of our town randoms know eachother - we were prepared for this to happen, so they will each be getting a simbrainwash (patent pending)- it's harmless and temporary (we believe), just think of it as a relationship reset. All inter-relationships in the household will be "reset" to zero.

Our first 9 Strangersims promise to bring a whole lot of drama and trouble to the house, let's see what fantastic traits our final 3 will bring to the table.

 10.

Age: 18 days until A

Traits:
- Grumpy
- Athletic
- Slob

* Note: Sam will be a part of a 2nd challenge (The Clone Challenge) that I'll run silently in conjunction with this one. For more information on that challenge go here. This particular Sam is #644.

11.
Nick Bowman
{recycled 3th generation sim from The Spades, now cured plantsim though currently his skin coloring has yet to fade and full-feature transition to human has yet to take effect.}
Age: 16 days until A
Traits:
- Kleptomaniac
- Heavy Sleeper
- Handy
- Shy
- Vehicle Enthusiast
LTW: The Tinkerer
Job sacrificed:  Unemployed

12.

Bach Saer

Age: 15 days until A
Traits:
- Diva
- Excitable
- Dramatic
- Hypochondriac
- Social Butterfly

LTW: Super Popular
Job sacrificed: Criminal Career Decoy

And there we have it, the 12 Strangersims that will live in the Perfect Strangers House for the next several weeks. Good luck to you all! (you're going to need it...)

I think it just hit them that they're about to enter into this crazy experience, as some of them look pretty nervous and worried. Here they are waiting for the official go-ahead.

WEEK 1
As mentioned before, all relationship levels to housemates were reset to zero. Their moodlets and wishes were also all wiped clean, their motives have not been altered. They were allowed to keep whatever, if any, skills they had existing - which would be to their advantage if they did have any. They could keep their smartphone and cameras, if they had them, but had to sell their vehicles before coming to the PS House. Each were subliminally given a level 1 of the following skills (if they had it already, they were not given an additional level): painting, sculpting, athletic, logic, charisma.

Gameplay:

Rather than resetting my game options for aging (it's set about medium), since it's 12+ sims weeks long, if/when they reach the last day of adulthood, their age will be reset to the beginning of that age stage.

I decided to leave all my mods intact, with the following Twallan (NRAAS) mods enabled and able to effect the PS House: Master Controller, Vector (accidentitis, laughter riot, I may add others as the challenge progresses), Woohooer (~autonomous; and removed the must be romantic for autonomous, kama simtra, risky~autonomous, romance~jealousy:medium, skinny dipping~privacy:false; try for a baby~autonomous:false; ), desensor, shooless (privacy~off). Also have Awesomemod installed, but don't think that will come into active play. Animated woohoo is another that I have that was set to autonomous (chance on flirt~30%, motive gain~normal, wish fulfillment~disabled, relationship loss on reject~enabled, relationship gain on woohoo~enabled, relationship test~enabled,

This week the Strangersims will get a chance to get to know one another. With nothing other than the household to interact with they are challenged to take advantage of this time and form relationships (and perhaps alliances) with each member - learning character strengths and weaknesses. No sims will be kicked out at the end of the week, but the one who gains the most skill points at the end of the week will be rewarded for their efforts.

Day 1
Starts of on a Sunday afternoon, Summertime, 7 Days until Fall.

Looks like Sofia and Tim didn't waste any time and are already hitting it off. Tim started talking about one of the only things he felt comfortable about, computers. Sofia seems interested, giving him all her attention, but could it be that she sees Tim as an easy win-over and has ideas of seducing him into an alliance, using him with only the end prize in mind? After Tim ran out of things to say about computers they just kind of sat there twiddling their thumbs in awkward silence.

Betti spied Sam from across the room and thought that he was a fine specimen of a man, she secretly hopes he will pose nude for her one day so she can sculpt him out of clay. She approached him and complimented him on his appearance. Sam appeared aloof and preoccupied, thinking of something that made him happy inside (probably his lover, Dilly Pidgin). They began flirting, she in earnest and he half-hearted.

Amy hopped on over to Des to introduce herself in her own animated way, they hit it off like they were old friends, getting to know each other, all smiles and laughs. In the background you can see Jenni standing over by Bach and Doug. Doug fidgeted with his sleeve while Bach admired him from beneath his long bangs. Jenni, well Jenni is starting to look a little green, and it's not a reflection off of her shirt, I wonder what could be the matter?

An hour in and so far everyone in the household seems to be getting along with at least one other person in the house, EXCEPT Lucy. Lucy was the first to wander off from the room. She didn't bother to introduce herself to anyone or even speak a single word.  Instead she went to inspect a plant on the 2nd floor, then got really excited over seeing one of the sleeping bags. I wonder if she means to sleep in it or if she get's some diabolical pleasure over the fact that someone else would have to sleep in it?

We're rather concerned about Jenni, she rushed to the third floor to the bathroom and vomited in the toilet - she almost didn't make it. We offered to have our on-staff doctor take a look at her, but she refused and assured us that it's probably just some bad shellfish she ate, but we're a little suspicious and will be keeping an eye on her. She still looks a little green, maybe we should give her a barf bag to hold on to!

Woah! WTH is this? Nick has a secret talent... reaching through walls to access our backwards bookshelves. The gag's on us then. Guess we'll have to move out all the bookshelves after all. We were hoping we didn't have to so we could just turn them around when the time came to allow the sims access to them for next week, but not if this can happen. We swarmed in to grab the shelves and Nick handed over the offending book. He was a little embarrassed by the whole situation, saying that he had always had a knack for reaching through walls (it came and went), but shrugged it off, then disappeared and reappeared at the front door (nah, not another hidden talent, the staff just decided he needed a glitch reset, hopefully no more reaching through walls for Mr. Bowman). Nick didn't seem to mind, he headed back to the kitchen to prepare hotdogs.

Though Sam was still thinking about his lover, he felt some attraction toward Jenni and decided to go talk to her upstairs in the bathroom. Jenni wasn't having any of it, she still felt sick to her stomach and anything Sam said sounded offensive (even though that wasn't Sam's intent). By her body language you'd think he asked if he could woohoo with her or something! By the looks of it, she's ready to tear his head off.

She got really ugly with him, almost snarling! Maybe we should have her looked at by our doctor anyway! Maybe she has madsimcow disease!!! Or maybe she's bi-polar, after a few minutes of bitching and snarling she started talking to him, wanting to get to know him. The staff and I are shaking our heads. You never know what to expect from strangers...

Once they started talking civilly, she found that Sam was actually Charismatic; huh, go figure.

But then Lucy crept in on tip-toes and scared the begeezus out of Sam, which put a wedge in his and Jenni's conversation. It was just as well, a few minutes later Jenni got sick again. Lucy joked cruelly that we may need to set up one of the sleeping bags next to the toilet for Jenni since she was having such a hard time keeping her head above the rim. She was cackling in a witchy way when Bach came up behind her and gave her a piece of her own medicine by scaring the devil out of her. We got a kick out of that! Our outside camera caught both actions.

Sofia, being the vain diva that she is, stopped to check herself out in the hallway mirror before witnessing the after effects of the dual action in the bathroom, when everyone had calmed down she praised Bach for his courage to scare Lucy.

While all the commotion was going on up stairs we missed what happened between Tim and Betti, they're down-right hostile toward one-another!

Jenni, Sam, and Betti all achieved the Personable Skills Challenge.

Night-time crept up on us as surely as Lucy crept up on Sam. The first two to hit the sheets (they went to a bunkbed, not a double bed) were Vadleany and Nick. Sam, Des, Lucy, and Amy took to bunkbeds as well.  With all the bunkbeds covered, we waited to see who would take the double beds and who would take the sleeping bags.

But then all of a sudden it was like they all had to go to the bathroom, and there was a lineup.  Lucy and Tim were doing their business (no, not together), while Doug headed in, and Bach, Betti, and Amy waited to gain access to the toilets.

Doug and Tim ended up in the sleeping bags and Lucy took the bunkbed that Amy had vacated earlier. Betti was the first to climb into a double bed. Amy wanted a sleeping bag and stood above the snoring Tim, shaking her head and tapping her foot before deciding that her growling stomach was an immediate priority before getting some Zs.

Jenni headed back to the bathroom, and though she was tired and hungry, her motives in the orange, her nausea had resurfaced and she didn't want to be far from a toilet... just in case. But fickle-minded as she was, she changed her mind and took the spot next to Betti in the double bed.

With that, and just Amy and Bach awake and a double bed left open, we close the night and say "sleep-tight simmies" until tomorrow as we doubt that anything exciting will happen between the two (unless there's a cat fight).

12 Perfect Strangers

12 Perfect Strangers [Big Brother Challenge - Sims Style]!

This pilot season of 12 Perfect Strangers takes us to good ol' Twinbrook at 6 Willowdale Lane. The Ancient Modernity property that stood at that address was bulldozed to make way for a more luxurious modern upgrade, the Futuristic Abode (by Pralinesims at TSR).

Futuristic Abode by Pralinesims

Some renovations to this amazing three story house were done to accommodate the scope of this challenge:
  • Any bookcases that were in residence were turned around backwards (kind of a gag joke by the staff, that apparently I wasn't privy to, so I don't get it)
  • Garage was emptied out and converted into a future skills studio
  • Kitchen: a few gadgets were added, such as a top-of-the-line coffee maker, a microwave, and of course a trashcan. Other than that, a whole lot of cabinetry and seating areas, general fridge, common stove, sink, but no dishwasher or trash compactor.
  • There is a living space on the 1st floor as well - couches, chairs, etc, but void of any entertaining electronics.
  • On the 2nd floor, we have two bedrooms - the only bedrooms in the entire house, which means our 12 Strangersims will be crammed into them for the duration of their stay. We have provided them with 2 double beds, 3 bunk beds, and 2 sleeping bag. Yes, we realize that there will have to be bed sharing, but who knows what can come of it.
  • 3rd floor, we converted the bedroom that was up there into an empty space, again for a future skills studio. The one bathroom in the entire house is up on this floor as well, with 4 toilets, 3 sinks, 3 double (cloakroom-style) showers, and one bathtub. Do you think the Strangersims will be shy? Heh, guess they don't have a choice if they want to stay clean.
  • The grounds are beautiful, but simple and don't offer anything other than a pretty, modern landscape to admire.
Looks like our 1st Strangersims has arrived! And boy does she look eager to get the party started!

Challenge: Big Brother Sims Style

I get bored easily and need challenges or to change things up often, so when I came across this Big Brother Challenge, it looked like it would be entertaining enough - at least for a little while. Funny though, as I think I may have only ever watched a couple of episodes of Big Brother, but I get the gist of what was going on.

The original challenge details are here. It's also posted below, but I've made some changes/notations {in blue} to better suit me. Though I may end up adjusting as I go along.

Big Brother Challenge {It'll be labeled 12 Perfect Strangers on my blog}
Many are familiar with the Big Brother show formula. 10 random strangers are locked up together in a house and at the end of each week the least popular person is voted out. The winner is the last person left in the house.

But how would it work for sims?

12 strangers are put into a house and left to their own devices. At the end of 14 sim weeks, the last sim standing will receive 250000 simoleons, the most expensive car available, and will get to spin off into a new challenge. If there is a romance with the last 2 sims standing, then they both get to move on, together, in the new challenge

Create 12 YA random sims with a mix of personality traits - you could even use premade sims with randomly selected traits to get a broad spectrum of personality traits. Ideally, it should be a male/female 50/50 split. Of course you may doll them up as much as you want, after all you have to look at them!

Build a single story house with enough beds for all (not sure yet, but I may make it a 2 story house). To mix it up a bit throw in a double bed *forcing* bed sharing and the ensuing aggravation *muahahaha*.
Build a functional kitchen, (with microwave cooker and coffee machine) a large seating and dining area, a fireplace (which must be lit during the day) and a communal bathroom with 3 toilets, a washbasin and two showers. Depending on how you feel, you may use high quality kitchen stuff, or trashy stuff .. You are Big Brother here.
You must NOT provide the following:

Bookcases
PCs
TVs
Any game or hobby objects or gym equipment
Swimming Pools
Ponds
Fire alarms
Burglar alarms

You may make your house as visually attractive as you like - or as hideous as you like.

Money control is not an issue - you will need money to furnish the house and buy Task equipment. You may use social interaction mods for things such as autonomous woohoo. Will also be using animated woohoo put on autonomous - there will likely be a lot of friskiness going on. The sims must be totally autonomous and you must NOT interfere with their actions. If death occurs, tough! No sim may leave the lot unless it is part of a group task. If a death does occur, as in my current game, one sim set himself on fire within the first hour of arriving at the house, you may replace that sim if you wish.

You may however make things more difficult for your housemates - The idea of the challenge is 'triumph through adversity' so some adverse conditions are encouraged. You may sometimes remove some facilities such as one of the showers or toilets on a temporary basis as 'punishment' for not cleaning toilets or showers. I think one day a week, every other week, I may try locking the communal bathroom door from all but the previous week's winner. You may also disrupt sleep patterns by putting a stereo in the bedroom and switching it on. Removing one or two beds. Again 'punishment' is up to you.

Weekly Tasks - These are guideline tasks, feel free to create your own or repeat them more regularly. Your only limitation is your imagination! The only rule is that there must only be one activity going on at any one time - sims are forced to either join in with it or do nothing.
I'm going to start all the sims on level one of each of the following skills: painting, sculpting, athletic, logic, charisma.
Week 1 - The first week, I'll let them all get to know each other and leave them to their own devices. No one will be kicked out this week.
Week 2 - I'll place skill building equipment and any other distraction worthy things (like tv/computer/bookshelves/etc.) in the house so they can utilize them at will.
Week 3 - I'll remove all the skill building equipment and distraction worthy things that I placed there last week. Painting Task - purchase enough painting easels for all sims. Leave in place for 1 sim week. Some sims will paint, some won't. You must NOT interfere with the sims autonomy in any way, but you may remove the painting from the easel to allow a sim to continue painting if desired. Or scrap paintings if a sim wanders off from the easel. Points will now be tallied by their skill sets, and the one with the lowest amount of points will get the boot, if no one gains in this skill, then no one gets kicked out. The one with the highest skill gain will get a reward (IDK, maybe a charisma skill point or get to go to a movie or something fun during one of the days in the week following).

Week 4 - Athletic Task - Purchase enough gym equipment for all sims. Leave in place for 1 sim week. Points awarded by skill set athletics, lowest buh-bye! [Same procedure will follow for each week according to the skill assignment, if no one gains in this skill, then no one gets kicked out. Reward same concept as previous.]
Week 5 -  Logic - Chess tables and telescopes. ...
Week 6 - Swimming/Diving - pool. ...

Week 7 - Free choice - Repeat one of the above tasks or invent your own. Darts, Foosball, put in a gardening plot (via buydebug) install a pond for fishing (with debug fish spawners) whatever you want. This week is designed to boost social skills. You may also install a bar for this week. No one gets kicked out this week, UNLESS their relationship drops into the red with someone (if there is existing red relationships at the start of this week, then if the red gets 5 or more points worse then one of them will get kicked out by random draw.).

Week 8 - Music Task - Purchase instruments of your choice - piano, guitar, bass, drums.

Week 9 - TBD

Week 10 - Saturday Field Trip - Take all the sims to the park and see what happens. At supper time treat them all to a meal at a restaurant - or if you play a world with a dive bar, let them loose there. Again this is a social experiment to see which sims gain the best relationships. ?? Haven't decided week outcome.

Week 11 - Career Week - Send all sims to work! Choose random jobs - cooking career, politics, criminal, whatever you want - and see which one shines at work! They will have
to quit their jobs after one sim week.
Week 12 - TBD. Additional weeks will be tacked on if needed until there is a last man/woman standing. (or last couple standing)
Now, how will my sims be chosen? I think I will start off with one sim that I make, set him/her in the house and call roommate service for the next 4 sims, then change them so that they are selectable (so I can monitor their skill sets). Depending on what gender those 4 sims turn out to be, I will then make the next 3 sims. Finally, using master controller, I will go down the population list and choose (using random.org) the last 2 females and 2 males.

Where to set the house? Good question. I'm debating between a created world (not by me as I haven't ventured very far into CAW yet other than opening it up) or one of the earlier worlds. I guess I should go find out!

Custom Career Mod: The Boxer Career

[ETA: Now ready for download over at MTS!]

The first mod/career mod that I've ever made will be out at MTS, hopefully soon, I submitted it late last night and will update this post when it's ready for download.  Some info about it, which will also be reiterated (mostly) on the release via MTS:

BOXER CAREER

Boxers work hours in the gym to improve at their craft because it's a tough and demanding way to make a living and establish a career.

It could be the toughest of all sports to survive.

Many fighters are drawn to the sport because they love the one-on-one competition and may have seen their heroes emerge victorious in a big fight and they want to emulate that success.

Having that desire is a small part of being successful. You need to have athletic ability and the determination to turn that into fighting skill.

It takes hours in the gym and years to develop the specific characteristics needed to be a great boxer. Do you have what it takes?

Rabbithole: Stadium
Levels: 10
Ages: YA,A,E
Skill Building: Athletic, Logic, Charisma
Uniforms: I used the following game career outfits for males and females (not including elders) - sweats, athletic, athletic jacket.  I'm not sure how to incorporate custom uniforms or I would have tried to put in the boxing outfit, so if or until I figure it out those will have to do. Alternately, you can change the career outfit via CAS or style booth once your sim has joined the career.
Opportunities*: 5 included
Career Events/Chance Cards*: 5 included
Autographs: Ability to hold autograph sessions at the Stadium will be enabled once level 5 has been reached. The interaction will be available by clicking on the stadium.

Possible Future Revisions
  • Give celebrity points as rewards for opportunities, events/chance cards, and/or promotions. Need to see how/if this can be done.
  • Add more opportunities and/or events/chance cards.
  • Find out how to use boxing outfit as the uniform instead of the athletic outfits currently being used for the mod.

[Drayeth Ash and his brother-in-law warming up. Made the Ash legacy just to test this mod, LOL, and they've become a large family of boxers. Maybe one day I'll introduce them, but for now they're my testers.]

I have a 2nd career, an unusual one, that I've finished, but I can't get it to work, so will be redoing the mod from scratch, crossing my fingers in hopes that I can get it to work or figure out what went wrong and where.

The Shyr Twins: Backstory Part 3 (Final)

Dr. McSimmons, with his tired dull grey eyes, sagging bristly white-whiskered jowls, and age-slouched gait, swept the minty green surgical cap from his head as he approached the waiting party. He knew the family was anxious to hear the fate of their Elora and hastened, albeit in his own slow-motion-like mannerisms, to relay the news.

He told them that Elora had pulled through, they had managed to resuscitate her, however, she was still in pretty bad shape. Already weakened from her illnesses and the stress of the c-section, her body sustained even more stress-injury and would take even longer for her to recover - at minimum, several weeks.

The family was relieved, however, that relief was short-lived as Elora ended up having a heart attack during the night that followed. She never got to meet and fall in love with the doting Deputy Boyd, never got to re-establish a relationship with her parents, never got to get to know her younger brother or his wife and children, and as fate would have it, she never got to meet her precious twins - later named by their grandparents - Ellarian and Ellarain - beautiful sweet babies who inherited their mother's mesmerizing green eyes, lovely dark hair, and indomitable spirit.

Elidry and Eunice did what they could for the twins, tried as they could to love them as they would their own children, but it was hard for them. As the girls grew older and their features developed, they looked more and more like their mother, and every day was a struggle for the elder couple as the twins were a constant reminder of Elora and the past.

Deputy Boyd became like an uncle to them, he made sure to be a part of their lives, bringing them gifts, taking them out to play, doing fun activities with them.  He never got married and never had children of his own. In part it was like he was trying to fill the void that Elora had suddenly placed in his heart by her act - however unbeknownst as it was to her - of coming back into his life so quickly and leaving just as quick. The girls loved him, he was the only real male figure they had in their lives.  He was killed on duty while responding to a bank heist in progress, the twins had just turned ten the week prior.

Their real uncle, Uncle Evindal, though a nice man, kept his distance from the twins, never really taking to them, nor allowing them to get to know his side of the family. He always made excuses.

Aside from the losses, the vacancy of real affection from their grandparents, and the absence of their biological father that they had no clue about, the girls didn't lack for anything - they had everything they asked for that money could buy. When they came of age and graduated from high school, their grandparents setup a trust fund for them that they could use at their leisure. It wasn't long after graduation that Elidry and Eunice passed away.

The Straeth Estate was left to Evindal, of course, and since he had an aversion to the twins, he found the girls a place far from Abbotsford where they could move to and "thrive" in - as he had put it.

He had an extended contact, a developer, who had just opened up a new mountain village called Neverglade. In the village, more like a massive town, currently and literally empty of residents at the moment as the population had yet to begin to fill, the girls would have their pick of any place they wanted.  Uncle Evindal, ever practical, thought it was the best decision for everyone that they move there and start their lives anew.

Ellarian and Ellarain, though saddened by the thought of leaving behind what little friends they had made through school, were also excited about the prospect of a new adventure away from the small resistant town that seemed to be ladened down by heavy baggage - old, raggedy and vintage, no less. They didn't have anyone in Abbotsford that cared for them, they only had each other. Neverglade seemed like an opportunity to "thrive" like their Uncle had suggested (even though they knew that it was his way of getting rid of them - out of sight, out of mind).

And so... Welcome to Neverglade.

[Just a small portion of Neverglade.]
Ellarian and Ellarain's story to be continued...
